Cut off voltage for Waeco CF50?

I've checked out a lot of past threads but can't find out what the cut off voltage is for running a Waeco CF50 thru a 12v battery.

My battery is holding 12.64v, less than 6 months old, and will not start the fridge, although it runs perfectly on 240v.

Does anyone know what that cut off voltage is ?

True Blue.

A hell of a lot less than 12.64v See below

Waeco Fridge trouble shooting

If it is one flash it is most likely the 12 volt power voltage drop discussed below.

What does it mean if the error light is flashing on CCF/CF range?

Each flash will occur 1/4 second. After the actual number of flashes, there will be a delay with no flashes, so that the sequence for each error recording is repeated every 5 seconds. Once you have recorded the Red Flashes use the guide below

One Flash
Can be caused by:
• Insufficient cable size
• Too many connections
• Poor connections
• Not designating fridge with own direct circuit from battery:
Battery Protection Cutout

If the error light on your fridge flashes once every 5 seconds, it is definitely indicating that you have a voltage drop problem. This means that the wiring in your car may be inadequate to carry the correct amount of volts to the fridge.
To test if this is the problem, plug the fridge into a suitable AC adaptor. If you find that the fridge works, you can eliminate that there is a problem with the fridge and the car wiring configuration or plug connections should be stringently checked.

We recommend car/motorhome/caravan wiring to be a minimum of 6-8mm cross section wire for up to 4 metres. Above this length the wiring would need an extra millimetre for every metre.

If the fridge does not work on the correct Waeco AC Adaptor, further investigation is required. Contact Waeco if this occurs.

Two Flashes Fan over current cutout
If the fan circuit in the control module has a load in excess of 0.5 Amps, the system will fail.

Three Flashes Motor Start Error
If your error light is flashing three times every 5 seconds, the rotor may be blocked or the differential pressure in the refrigeration system is too high. Faulty compressor or faulty control module.

Four Flashes Minimum Motor Speed Error
This failure occurs if the compressor is running slower than 1850 rpm.

Five Flashes Thermal cut-out of electronic unit
If the error light is flashing five times every 5 seconds, the refrigeration system has been too heavily loaded, or if the surrounding temperature is high, the electronics will run too hot. This is generally caused by not allowing enough ventilation around the vents of your fridge. To overcome this, simply ventilate your fridge more effectively

Hello True Blue, about 12.6 v on high, 11.5v on medium and 10.5v on low give or take .3v on medium and low.

I have the correct specs at work and if noboby can help you in the next day or so I will get them for you.

Does it run when the vehicle is running and what is your battery voltage then.

Does the display light up when on 12v but the comressor will not run.

Regards Richard

Take the fridge back and get the poly switch replaced.
It's a known issue with the waecos....do a search.
Mine drove me mad until I found out about the poly switch.
Simple fix....24 hr turnaround. All good now:-)

Cheers

Hey Blue,

If you try everything else and nothing works have a look at the battery, with a collapsed cell they will read ok then when any load comes on them the voltage dies.

Check that you low voltage cutout selector is on the low setting (10.5V). Far as I know, the only place to measure the supply voltage when the fridge is running is AT the compressor - seeing that is not convenient, as close as possible seems the go (voltage drop in the cables makes battery measurement immaterial) - my multimeter has spike tipped metal probes - I poke them into and through the insulation on the power cable, right by the plug - no damage is done in just getting into the top strands of the copper within. This reading will be lower than anything you measure back toward the battery - this reading is the one relevant to the cutout circuit. If the voltage here is well over the 10.5 cutout, and you still have an error light indicating low voltage, it must be the poly fuse others are talking about - I'm having the same issue - took it to an agent (that I have no faith in, now) who said everything is fine - will have to start talking to Waeco again.

I've got 2 CF50's. Had exactly the same prob as you and needed the poly fuse changed. They replace it with a bigger fuse.

Asked the agent what the chances of the other fridge breaking down were, and he said "about 100%". Hope I'm not too far from town when it goes.

p.s. When the poly fuse goes, the fridge will still run on 240v. It won't run on 12v even with the emergency switch on.

Cheers, upsidedown.
