Willem
23 4x4's later and I am still improving on how to carry all the stuff one needs, in an orderly fashion in the back of the vehicle.
The bush trailer is carrying most of the gear these days and my previous set up included the twozone fridge and a fold-up bed, Selfinflating mattresses, Sleeping bags, Pillow, clothes, Trolley-jack, 3 toolbboxes, ordinary jack, aircompressor, shackles, chains, 20 litres
water,
HF Radio, Tyrelevers,Tyrepliers, spare shocks, hoses, spare tubes, fold-up buckets, Laptop, Medicine Box, other medical stuff, fire extinguisher and so on.
Now SWMBO says that why should I have all the fun and she is coming along on the next adventure.
So I ripped everything out of the GQ today including the seats and tomorrow will build a double bed, clothes storage compartment and will fit most of the things mentioned back again.
I am using 16 and 18mm MDF as I find it very easy to use and strong as
well. Two full sheets of MDF cost $90 but some of it is destined to be used in alterations to the trailer.
Will post some pics if I remember how when the job is done.
Cheers

Hi Willem
I love being able to have a tinker and try and fix things. Had the CD stacker out of the Magna today and pulled it apart and then got it going again which is very surprising. Had the obligatory one screw left over at the end. Had the normal stress of trying to find a tiny circlip that I dropped for about fifteen minutes too.
So tell me Willem - where is the next trip. Our next trip is on the Murray from
Echuca on a houseboat in the first week of the September school holidays and then up to
Darwin (flying) for two weeks from around 25th October. Trying to make up for our aborted mid year
Darwin trip.

You have done some great work there.
I can't believe your rig only weighs 3 ton....:-D
Then again I carry all the spare stuff in the trailer. Everything is a compromise.
Cheers

Any chance you might be able to get a permit to tow 2 trailers behind the Nissan ......if it could.....we could call it Willem's Desert Train , To pull more you must have a TOYOTA as you can see by my Rig Pic , so go for it Willem,

Doug
In South Africa it is legal to tow more than one unit behind your vehicle.
When I was back there a while ago I was passed by a 7 series BMW towing a 22ft caravan and a 20ft Trailer Sailer behind that and I was sitting on the speed limit at 120kmh!
Many people tow a small trailer behind their caravan as
well.
I can't see it working for me though....backing two trailers down a dune face.....LOL
Cheers

Is that when he works on the "bush" trailer?
By the way Willem, why do you call it a bush trailer? Looks like
mine did before the camper went on but with lower sides and skinny tyres.....
