Hodwy all, I have been through the
forum archives and no mention of what I am thinking of doing (maybe with good reason.)
I am considering having a canopy made for the back of the LC100. Pretty standard configuration, steel or aluminium frame, canvas canopy.
I am thinking of having the frame bent up out of exhaust tubing which I think would be reasonably cheap and I would be able to do the welding myself.
Any thoughts?

Go for it. this was suggested to myself by someone that had done it themselves. Cheap, easy and light. The only consideration is that it may not be strong enough to attach a rack to for a boat, gear, etc etc.
When I was planning similair, the most expensive bit was getting the sides bent up to give support and shape, I got quoted about $150 for supply and bending. I ended up getting the ends bent up, I think it cost be a carton for the tube, and $2.50 a bend from the exhaust
shop. I will suggest that you ensure that you allow some leftover on the ends, as it will be much easier to cut down that weld on an extra inch or three. Also make sure that you mark the centers for the bends, as it is what their machines base the bend on.
Unfortunately I ran out of time and patience (work, birth of a child etc) so so we opted to have it built for us.
good luck. If you want to have a look at
mine for any ideas, drop me a line.
Mike
