Saw the adds for it on TV WTF??
it aint that special. was there a few years back and couldnt believe the level of commercialization then - you even were sposed to pay to see it.
Sure it aint bad with other attractions in the area but I only went there coz I was in the area for other business.
Visited
Baladjie rock on the wend and thought that was probably more immpressive and
cave hill aint bad either both with
bush camps and not a toll booth in sight - will they be next?

G'day Davoe,
I agree. Incidentally, I am
camping at
Baladjie Rock on my way over to
Perth next month, and am
camping at
Pildappa Rock (your old stomping ground I believe) on my way back in October.

I first went there in December 1951. I thought "ho hum". Still do after three additional trips.

ahh
Wave Rock, the most overrated tourist attraction in Western Australia. Take note easten staters - give it a miss, it has lost its colour now they have put a dam on top of it and the
water no longer runs downs the face.
I did stop in there actually earlier this year as I was with some family with kids who hadn't seen it. My gosh $8 per vehicle - we kept on driving as it was hardly worth seeing even when it was free.

Interesting that you sandies have the same impression of that place as I do. Whwen we arrived everything was closed and they still wanted their dough. Didn't impress me at all. We went a few km on and found a terrific little national
Park.
Overall I'd rate the attraction as a wasted effort.
Of course that was years ago, but it doesnt sound like its changed for the better.

I was there in 98 I think and jumped the turnstyles in Disgust before setting up
camp out the front of Hippos yawn
Gotta give it to them An otherwise struggling section of marginal weatbelt has turned a mildly interesting local attraction into one of WAs must sees complete now with resort

A region that had had hard times with dry seasons has done it
well in promoting their rock (just one of many similar formations across Australia) as a national and international tourist attraction, and good on them. With the 'resort' at
wave rock, it isn't the same as it used to be when we used to visit it never see another person all day, but the same can be said about Uluru. The caravan
park is very average and i would not choose to stay there again. It can also get very cold at night - but not as cold as at
Baladjie Rock - that was the coldest night we'd ever had.

We have just visited
Wave Rock, and wonder if we are talking about the same place!
We were happy to pay $7 towards to upkeep of the area, and bought a guidebook of walks for $7.50. 3 walks were covered, but we only had time for 1, which took us about 2 hours, and we found lots of things to see and the details in the book were very informative and educational. We intend to return to do the other walks on our next trip.
We stayed at Tressies
camp ground 17 km away at Karlgarin, which was new with 4 star facilities, and there was a very interesting gramophone and other item museum as
well.
We have looked at half a dozen other rocks, but were most impressed with
wave rock.
