Evening all,
I have looked in the archives but could not find the answer. Simple one I think - what model cruise control can I put in my 2005 Nissan Patrol - 4.2TDi. Nothing fancy - just 1 that will hold the speed I ask?
Answers gratefully accepted.
Cheers

John,
I put the AP60 on my Triton, despite the guys at Autobahn telling me that coz I have a turbo diesel and therefore have no vacuum pressure from the intake manifold it wouldn't work.
The trick with the cheaper systems that are vacuum driven (for the actuator assembly), is to take a feed off the vacuum line going to the brake booster FROM the vacuum pump, if you have one. Otherwise you will have to spend extra to get an electrically operated system.
Mine also gets its speed data from magnets attached to the tail shaft as apposed to the expensive units that take a feed out of the back of your speedo. 3 vehicles and aprox 200,000 km later I haven't had a problem with the unit yet.

Hi John,
With the AusCruise vacuum operated cruise control on my TD42T Patrol, I did away with the small ball resevoir that comes with the kit and just tapped into the vacuum line from the vacuum tank with a T-Piece. There is more than enough volume in the tank to handle the cruise control. I also didn't bother with the magnets for the sensor but instead tapped a wire into the speedo sensor that comes out of the back of the transfer case. Most modern cars with electronic speedo's (not cable speedo's) can be done this way. Works a treat.
The only issue I had was that I used a live wire from the wiper motor for the power and everytime I put the wipers on, this wire was dragged low which cut the cruise control out. I have since rectified with any further issue.
Regards
David
