Returned home last night from our trip from
Hyden to the turn off on
Victoria Rock road via the
holland track.We came home via
victoria rock road on to the
Norseman hyden road.Had a little rain the first night but not enough to affect the track at all. There were bog holes but most had detours and the ones we had to drive through were hard on the bottom. We went through them very slow to limit any track damage. There will be
water in them for a long time I'd say.Motherhen I'm not sure about taking an f truck as the track is very tight in
places and you are sure to scape something.Every
camp spot we stopped was unique and we had dingos howling around us one night.Far to many things to see in the time we had so will have to do it all again next year.Rained all the way home from
Hyden on sunday so we might have a little luck with the weather as
well as every night except the first was cloud free.

That's not a bad little set up you're got there..
Good to see you had a good trip .. not the place to be in the wet.. ;-)
Cheers

That was a quick trip Graeme; glad it went
well. Thanks for the feedback. We will re-think our route.

Motherhen the track compared to some that i use is quite good. One of the rigs with us was a tray back patrol towing a coromal wind up camper that is a couple of inches wider than the patrol and the only damage was to rip off one of the clips that ties the camper roof down {easily replaced].We had to have our mirrors in but no dramas apart from that.If your rig is not much bigger than the patrol then a few scratches might not worry you. They got through the tight spots by being very carefull i guess its up to you.Plenty to see on the way home and apart from wet spots which are easy to miss
victoria rock road is good.

Graeme, i'm guessing that the tight bit was the last bit before you met Victoria Roack Road? Was there any problem with Victoria Roack Road on the portion you returned? Looking at alternative
routes.

Motherhen the
victoria rock road is good with a few wet spots easily missed but would get wet very fast with any rain.If i had an f truck i would do the holland but thats me.The end bit before
victoria rock road was good with more open woodland and only a few tight spots.looked like that end had had little rain this year and most of the bog holes that were left had deviations round them where as at the start you have to go through most.Going by the weather records the bottom half did not get much rain either.Looks like the clay in the bog holes holds
water for a long time.Take them slow and you will have no problems.Be good to here from someone that does the track later how long they hold
water.A look at your rig and where you have been tells me you get a few scratches and scrapes. Its hard to recomend tracks to other people.

Thanks Graeme - I know the Old Rooster won't take the F250 where there is high risk of scratching. This will be our first time out and about with it, and it was hard to get hold of a good one. Cost us a mint, and it had been kept absolutely immaculate by the previous owner.
I am looking at other options on the map such as following the
Hyden-
Norseman Road and heading north on the
Victoria Rock Road from
Lake Johnston, or even going along the Holland as far as Banker Mt Day Road, then south back to the
Hyden-
Norseman or even north along Banker Mt Day to meet the highway at Yellowdine. I am open to the advice of others here, but i imagine these roads would not present any problems for us. We are heading to Kalgoorlie and back, so looking for two different
routes. We have been on the
Hyden-
Norseman once.
Has anyone been through the OLD
Hyden-
Norseman Road? It leaves 19 km north of
Norseman and joins the
Victoria Rock Road a bit north of
Lake Johnston.
