I was up the Cape in the last few weeks and developed serious creaking noises etc in front right hub. 4WD/or 2WD the hub has become damaged for who know's what reason. I got mobile again by installing a GQ manual locking hub nad leaving it locked in. Then on my
my home the front Left hub started the same. However, any further deterioration has been stoped by manually locking the hub and leaving it locked in. It's still under warranty and is going in to Nissan tomorrow, but I was just wondering if this is a known fault or is Nissan going to say it's my bad driving/the corrugations that have caused it?? any advise appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question (about warranty etc)......I have long ago changed my auto hubs over to AVM manual locking hubs and couldn't be happier. I am aware that the really serious blokes (rock-crawlers and comp blokes) say that AVMs aren't strong enough for what THEY do, but they suit MY needs perfectly.
Cheers

Apparently, you can remove the auto bit out of them and turn them into manual hubs....Omit to tell Nissan you went to the cape, they will blame the
water crossings and whatever else they can think of....

Yeah you can, I did this up the cape, a fairly simple task of undoingthe scrwes around th ehub and replacing the maunal hub, making sure of course to put the manual hub in the lock/unlock position depending whatthe auto hub was in when you removed it. Will advise what nissan say this arvo. Byut personally I think that although the Cape is rough, it's nothinga 4WD should not be able to cope with esp a Nissan (if I was in a subarue or Volkswagon etc, I might feel ashamed of myself complaining about it breaking up there, but Niisan preach about their toughness.. I didn't do any 'extreme' 4WD ig with it.. (my bus is a tourer) Cheers

Im hearing you, but funny things happen when you mention the cape...yes a 4wd should be able to go anywhere, but if you hire one, they draw a line at
cooktown....
Sometimes it is best to omit to mention somethings...for the sake of having a straight claim
