We are heading off next week from Brisbane to Innamincka, down the Old Strezlecki track and on to the Flinders Ranges with the caravan. Does anyone have any up to date info on track conditions please? Wet/dry closed/open and how green are things?

Was out that way two weeks ago, Mike.

Everything was open. Roads around Innamincka were as rocky as usual, which keeps the speed down - probably easier on tyres that way.

Further south towards Cameron Corner - we used the Bore Track -was a sea of wildflowers. More importantly, the beer at Innamincka was cold, and Cooper Creek was flowing over the causeway - the locals were getting their fishing gear ready:-).

There were a lot of peopoe on the road, and the camp sites on Cooper Creek near Innamincka, both upstream and downstream, were gone by about 4.00pm.

Have a safe one...

George

Mike we have just got back from four month's in that country with the Nissan and caravan.

Rained a couple of monthes back the country was looking really good for that part of the world. You need to plenty of over night stops down the tracks or you miss so much.

Roads are a state of mind use your head instead of a heavy foot and all will go well ,roads are pretty good if you use common sense.

I first drove this county in 1960 in a saloon with a bit of fun but no major hassle. Remember it,s speed and weight that cause problems.

Enjoy the trip mate and go safe.......Slugger.

Thanks, Slugger. I drive at a leisurely pace - cheaper and I don't break anything. Thanks for the reply.

I took a few pics a couple of months back, on typical road surfaces up there (among other places) - don't know if you have been there before - may be of interest.
