Hi All
Are the arb brand scrub bars/side steps strong enough to use a high lift off them to lift a 80? Are they strong enough to use as sliders. If not can anyone recoment some that are. Cheers

Matt, can't say for sure, but when I looked for the Hilux, the ARB ones were only tied to the chassis in two places. Also, at least one member of our 4WD Club has bent ARB side steps. Decided to look elsewhere.

I went for some custom ones made from heavier steel and tied to the chassis in 4 places. Can lift the side of the Hilux with a Hi Lift jack. Have not yet hung up seriously on them, but I reckon they'd be OK.

Matt I have the ARB side steps only (not rails) & although they are very strong are mounted too close to the sills to be used as true sliders. They are fairly neat up against the body as well making it impossible to jack off without risking dinting the door.
ATS in Geelong make a slider copied off the Yanks but does not have full front gaurd protection (just the sills). They would protect well on rock ledges but still doubt one could successfully jack off them, infact it would have to be a huge ugly lump of steel to be strong enough to support 1.5 tonne. Really why would you need to jack off the sides anyway when the front & rear bars would be far safer?

as I recall they bolt onto the same setup as the standard rails...

From the bends in mine I would say they don't support the truck ;-)
