I go to China on business regularly and an article in the Shanghai Daily (Communist Party censored English Language paper) caught my eye today:

This written by Zong Lei - a freelancer living in Kazakhstan:

Judging from their views on China I believe many Western media outlets are biased against China.....Western media are often too mean, or even manipulative in their reports about (goods produced) in China..........the unfriendliness, if not hostiality towards China seems deep rooted.......... I despise these lazy Western journalists who fabricate ideas out of no-where.

Yeah right - ask Matel and Sheriden if they are fabricated.
The funny thing is that on the opposite page of the same newspaper was the following article:

10% of locally produced kitchen hoods and 30% of those made outside the city failed local quality inspections, due to problems with power supplies which showed that certain brands had electric wires that could easily cause a fire when they over-heated

Bear in mind that they failed 'local quality inspection'!!!

Now I am not trying to knock Chinese made products - I have many of them, and I am here to improve one section of Chinese manufacturing but who are they kidding!!

Buyer beware!!!

It's a lottery with made in China. SOmetimes you are lucky and sometimes not so lucky.

What urks me most is that companies like mine that now manufacture off shore keep their prices at Made in Australia prices, and on the whole i would say the quality is less than it used to be here.

I agree Brew, it urks me as well. Mind you there are many items that are made in China & are good value. But it hurts when you purchase something that was once made in Oz & now made in China & you still pay top price.
How about our beer? Seems as if you are like me & enjoy a drop of the amber fluid. Would'nt it be great if they made the stuff over there & sold it here for half the price. LOL
