I bought one them fandangled USB TV sticks whilst I was in Darwin - this one is MSI brand and actually installs on my laptop without asking me to move my Windows Root directory to the chook shed so that it can install the drivers.

BUT,,,,,,,,,all I can get with this one is 6 different versions of SBS, including SBS radio.

I've had a look at the scanable freqs and they range from 177500khz to 858500 khz. Can anyone tell me the freqs for other TV stations. I was told that this USB stick thingy could receive all broadcasted TV stations in Oz, assuming of course that I was within the transmission range.

I can get SBS in Darwin, Kalgoorlie, Perth but nothing else. Have I been 'dudded"??

I'm quite upset about this as I bought so that I could watch "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "Neighbours" and similarly, my favourite, "The Test Pattern" whilst we were away on our trip and I've missed about 3 months of each of them!!

Thanks to all the TV experts on here,,,,,,,,,,,,

I take it you have a decent antenna attached to the device rather than the "test" one they usually supply? Is the antenna supporting these frequency ranges ie. is it a digital tv antenna etc.

Are you rescanning for the new frequencies when changing locations (i believe SBS may be the same frequency in some locations and may not change)?

Are the SBS channels digital or analogue? You may have to change the signal source eg Analogue, FM, DVB-T etc

Is it a DigiVOX A/D II or a DigiVox mini II V3.0 or another version?

I've got a digital USB tuner running on my laptop here in the burbs of Adelaide.
The antenna has a lot to do with - I've had to patch my puta into the house antenna on the roof - rabbits ears and those tiny antennas that come with the tuner won't do - when you scan, they pick up what they can and forget the rest - put a decent antenna into the mix, and you'll probably scan everything normally available. Some of th drivers avaialble on the web are better thnn th river software that coes wit the bl&^*%$y tuner - I got a tip from a web forum - was wasting heaps of time until then, trying to get it to run - also, after changing locations, or antennas, delete all stations from prior scans and do it all over again.

I doubt if you've been 'dudded'. Think your problem could be that you don't really know what you've bought. If it is a digital TV tuner then that's all you will receive. You will not be able to receive any of the analogue transmissions. Having said that, the TV stations (in major cities) are transmitting everything that is seen on anolgue also onto digital. As others have stated, you will have to tune in the stations each different location that you go to. You will find that soem locations don't have any digital TV reception at all. That's the time for a good book or two. Yes the type of aerial that you have is very important, the best reception will be received on a full size (domestic type) aerial. Good luck with it, the pictures are great if you can receive anything.

To the TVphobe hobbit .............

When you miss out on "The Bold" and "Neigh Bores" you could always lapse into a coma with "The Storm Rages Twice"on SBS .....

Even the Beagle whimpers when that comes on ....... I use it in lieu of a Test Pattern !!!
