Seems quite a few Van Parks are offering Free Internet. Only in it's infancy at this stage but numbers are steadily rising.
Big4 seem to be leading the push and Top Tourist are close behind.
After My discounted service via my Next G phone was cancelled I find this really convenient.

A few sites list the freebies:
http://www.public.net.au/
http://www.freewifi.com.au/

Works for me, though being the eternal cynic this may just be a move to get those who "free Camp" to cough up and pay for a van park......

Hell - I thought $2 per day for wireless at Barcaldine was as close to free as I'd ever see....... everywhere else in QLD was dollars per hour (if they had it - not many did). Even some of the big parks who seemed always full couldn't give a hoot about providing wireless internet - no need to I guess.

Darian, the best I have seen has been the cheaper Hilton chain in the US - the Hampton Inns. Free internet broadband all day and night, wireless or wired.

The full Hilton charge like wounded bulls and the service we suffered at Niagara was what you expect when staff don't have to earn their tips. I think they think they were in Paris or something. Totally characterless!

i have a mate who runs a cafe in byron bay. he offers free wireless broadband, locals, backpackers and other tourists come in for lunch or just a coffee with their laptops and he lets them go for it. he has one of those acounts that speed limit rather than cuts out when his allowance is used up. he had no problems last time i enquired. he also told me he had noticed quite a few people parked out the front with theire laptops, obviously tapping in.

Hi Peter,

"few people parked out the front with theire laptops, obviously tapping in"

This would be easily fixed by giving "customers" the days password to log on. Freeloaders could park outside and try all they like.

Cheers, Trevor.

We need a specific website list of Free wifi Caravan parks.

Some of the parks i have found with free wifi dont appear on any of the jwire or freewifi websites.

Also - of the Caravan parks i have found that offer free wifi - they dont even advertise it themselves. You dont actually find out until you've booked in.
