Hi all I'm thinking of buying a Nissan navara 03 st-r 3ltr turbo diesel. Are these a good 4WD to buy or a complete waste of money.? do they have problems like the 3 ltr patrol.?
Any information would be great ?
Thanks in advance for replying

Are you going new or used, My Daughter just got the new Triton Dual Cab , petrol/Auto, one very nice unit, if I had the dollars I would get the Diesel , go and have a look at them , my other choice would be the 70 series with V8 TD

I forgot to add that it all depends on what your going to with it , I did mention the 70 series but I would also give
one of these a very good looking at too.

I'm not going to do too much with it manly go
camping on
the beach and stuff like that. I am looking at putting a lift in it , bigger tyre's , winch , locker in the front so i can go exploring somewhere and not have too much of a worry about gettin stuck. I wont be doing anything too extreme. I did look into the 70 to 100 series and all the GU patrols but i need a duel cab for the family and the tray for work.
thanks Dave

Diesel Dave, i have a 2004 STR and it hasn't missed a beat since i bought it brand new. Apart from putting on a few extras, i only changed the tryes and shockers. Looking at lockers down the track.
cheers, Lance

The Navs haven't experienced the same level of engine problems the Patrol has. Slight differences (no intercooler, not variable vane turbo, lower weight) seem to add up to far less problems.
I got one in Feb, haven't done much adventuring yet but expect to do moderate off road work work without drama or
suspension mods. I think you'll find it suits your stated purpose - probably any ute from the last 5 years will prove ok though.
Things I don't like - poor turning circle, very poor rear
seat room in dual cab.
Good luck Dave
