Have heard some model exceed Pajeros have had premature front. wheel bearing failure. That system has been used by mercedes benz, and some subarus, for a long time. are they a ball race type bearing or what? Anyone had dramas in this area?.
Cheers Axle.

Morning axle
A lot of the modern 4wd's use none adjustable wheel bearings, they are all a ball race type bearing some have to be pressed onto a hub, but others including the Pajero's NM model onwards, use a bolt on assembly, which although is easy to change and is maintenance free, is a very expensive part and yes they do fail, I've replaced many of them over the years. Subaru's use a press in type bearing and I've also replaced many of those. Less and less of todays 4wd's are using the tapered adjustable bearings that you can repack i.e. Patrol / Landcruiser.
Hope this answers your question
Regards Jon
