Hi All
I have been going through old threads re tyres, I have come to the conclussion that I know nothing about tyres compared to some of you. I am about to change tyres on my 80 series, I currently am running 285/75R16 BFG A/T,s which I have been happy with, however I have the opportunity to acquire the same size in Silent Armours from Bridgestone, What do you think??? Thank you DEBBIE.

I was under the impression that Silent Armours were a Goodyear tyre....

No worries,

Have been lots of good reports on here about these. Phil G runs them on his 79 series Cruiser I think.

I have the Goodyear MTR's. The Silent Armor are a very similar tyre but have a slightly less agressive tread which has a less open pattern, presumably to create less noise (thus the name).

Cheers

Thank you Muddy doe for your response, I was told they have a band of Kevlar which creates a barrier against punctures through the tread, combine this with 3 ply wall in lieu of two ply makes for a pretty tough tyre, am I being told the facts???

I believe they are a 2 ply sidewall and i think Phill has found them pretty good but not up to his previos experience with the MTR for punture resistence

Hello Debbie, I belive they are good tyres, we had a choice between them and Cooper ST-C compond and we choose the Coopers.

I believe when you buy them new they come wth some sort of replacement warranty.

I know Bob Janes sell then here in Adelaide.

You are getting a good set of tyres.

They have some good reviews.

Yeah mate, had a top day out there.

btw - we have a terrific little hand saw for cutting small limbs up to about 150mm. Saw you asking about that the other day. Next time you see us remind me about it. It lives in the glovebox of the Prado. Got it at Elders store at Loxton. Folds up like a big pocket knife.

From what I see, BFGATKO and Silent Armours are two of the best AT tyres on the market, so I don't think you'll go far wrong.

My Silent Armours have done 35,000k of desert and bush trips - had one sidewall staked on the Madigan Line, but otherwise no punctures, no chipping. So I've had a good run. They have 8-9mm tread left (started with 13mm).

Not everyone is as lucky as me with tyres though.

tHANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLIES----
It would appear from the responses I received that these tyres are certainly ok, I am very glad about that, the deal I am getting is a very good one, and now made all the better by knowing they are a good tyre, once again, thanks guys.
