Hi all,

Have been looking to buy a small 4wd such as a sierra or vitara but the other day I came across a smart looking SWB Pajero Sport. It looked a little bigger than the suzuki so it appealed to me instantly. However I do not know and cannot find much info. about them. It had done about 165K, and he wanted $9900 for it. I was not sure on the model. I am thinking mid nineties, has anyone got any ideas? Does anyone own one or know much about them, such as fuel economy and 4wd ability etc. I am guessing they would be unleaded petrol. Any help or feedback would be great

Cheers

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Testing the memory on this one, but I will see if I can help.

SWB pajeros were imported by Mitsu, but in small numbers compared to the LWB, they just didn't seem to take off in the market.
Mitsu did drop the swb from the line up in the mid 90s with the gen II (1990 to 2000) body.
Usually they were the 3.0l V6. The 3.5l V6 may have come in at the end. From memory none were diesel. Earlier gen I (1983 to 1999) SWBs may have had the 2.6l 4 cyl engine.

They are effectively a shortened LWB, otherwise most is the same as the LWB. Smaller fuel tank though. They weigh about 250kg less than the LWB, so performance and fuel consumption is improved (maybe 10%?). So look to the LWB reports for most things good and bad. Little choppier ride though, usual SWB stuff.
Obviously better off road with things like ramp over angle.

The latest NP, Gen IV body, the SWB has been brought back in again.
There may have been some grey imports of SWB pajeros too. Nothing for or against grey imports, just different trim levels to the Mitsu imported ones, so might be issues sourcing some trim items.
If it is diesel, it possibly is a grey import.
