If you had a choice of these 3, which would you go with and why?
Any particular fuel type (LPG/Diesel/Unleaded)? Auto or manual matter?
Thanks for your opinion.

If it's an ancient Kombi, either of the other 2, if it's a modern VW that will be superior to the other 2.

Hullo Gerhardp 1
Have just sold a 2002 LWB diesel T4 at 160k after relacing the clutch which developed a nasty noise. Clutch body had developed slop for and aft and had to buy whole new kit including the ring gear for $2200 fitted. Even if it's only a plate replacement, this is
still the story and it's evidence of how unduly costly VW's are to fix even if they ride a lot better than a Toyota. Would I buy another? No. Had two brake booster failures at $1200 apiece but fixed under warranty fortunately. These are not vehicles to have after the warranty has expired.

Please yourself, Kev.
If you crash your Hi-Ace into my VW, I'll go to your funeral.

Kev
Ignorance is not a virtue. What I said was that they ride better. Rear on a VW is torsion bars, which is better than leaf springs when you go over a speed hump or corrugations. Frontal Crash protection is very much better for headons. Otherwise a Hi Ace is a better long term buy and this is what I suggested.

"into my VW"
That explains the defensiveness.

Critical thing is how much you have to spend and whether you want New or used. Express is about 20k new but have a look on You Tube crash tests at what happens to the driver when it has a 1 star crash rating and no airbag. Will put you off the idea of getting one. The choice/options for the other 2 are dependent on your wallet but LPG for a long range vehicle doesn't sound like a great idea. Hire a C/van for even a short foray and you'll soon decide what's important.

My camper was a 1978 Nissan E20 and cost as much as any of those would de value in a year including what it cost to slot a 5 speed in. Took me 1/2 way round Australia from Sa to a few EP trips, Goldfields, mid west, gascoyne Pilbarra and a few trips to
perth etc etc and was still going strong when i sold it for $600 I lived in it a few times when situations dictated.
auto man? diesal pet? pfft I just enjoyed it
