5th wheel hitch

Would like a hitch as shown in 49179 but woudl like to fabricate steelwork myself cos want to save a few $. Should timber support be treated? Has anyone out there done one themselves for a Proton Jumbuck

Sounds good. Was the plastic UV treated. If doing Tanami in Jan
would the heat make it go all soft and rig on back would start to
sag and lose ground clearance?

What is the timber support for? I had a look at that article & didn't see any timber. What is the GCM of a Proton Jumbuck?
