We have just arrived home after 4 awesome weeks travelling.

After about a year of deliberation, trepidation & planning (with much great advice from this site ! ) we finally bit the bullet, made definite plans, packed up the 2 boys & took off.

From east coast to nindigully to Mt isa to barkly to Alice to west mac range to kings canyon to Uluru to Oodnadatta track to coober pedy to william ck/coward springs to broken hill to home.

90 series Prado, nearly 10,000 kms done without hiccup, not one flat.

The big drawcards were a definite highlight ( Uluru,Kings Canyon,Mt Isa rodeo ) but the post trip synopsis was that as a family we had a much better time at the more remote places.
eg : our time at coward springs was a family highlight. the swim, the sunset over the old buildings, the night by the fire-memorable.

My advice to anyone considering a trip outback : Just do it !

we met some fantastic people, had some great time together as a family & had our eyes more opened to the wonderful country we live in.

Thanks again to everyone for the advice, our trip was certainly better for it.

I also recently come home after about 4 weeks (12000 km) lap crossing the Simpson, up to Kings canyon, Uluru, over to Kalgoorlie, quick play in the snow around Hotham, and then back to Brissy.
If you are anything like me,you are already planning the next trip, for me, the Kimberly's, and wondering why it took so long to make up your mind to go in the first place.
I also got more out of the places that seemingly had less, why is that?

Mark,
we ran BFG all terrain.we adjusted pressure to suit conditions and had no probs. was pretty rocky and plenty of corrugations on the meerenie loop and oodnadatta track but no drama's at all.
