Definitely camper trailer. It means that you can set up home and use your vehicle to get about, rather than having to pack up each time. It is also cheaper to buy and operate, unless you do not already have a suitable tow vehicle.
You will find that all campers, unless used by retirees, have very low kms - that's because they spend most of their lives parked in the back yard.
Happy travels

hi dj, I've just purchased a Jayco Dove (outback version obviously) and reckon its great for my intentions. They certainly have their limitations but while I have a very
young family it will be the best. Any more remote
places and I'll be going on my own anyway....without the trailer.
If there is just a few of ya's and you plan on doing desert crossings then I would stick to the purpose made camper trailers and not the X-overs like the Jayco.
The jayco's are certainly more comfortable than 95% of camper trailers but aren't as rugged.
Horses for courses. Work out where you need to go and in what comfort you want to do it in and that will dictate what type you get.
Well thats what i did anyway. Good luck.

I have the best of two worlds a Jayco Dove for caravan
park for annual trip sitting at one place at xmas for 4 weeks and Trackabout for the offroad , the Islands and also most of the quick weekend trips.
For the west kimberly and desert areas definately the camper or if
the desert only probable a tent.
Cheers

Hi DJ,
We have a Jayco
Penguin (13') Outback-Plus for sale in very good condition, 4YO. We've bought another van as we're travelling differently now. If interested I can email some pix for you to consider. Full solar and extended capabilities (3 jerry cans/2 wheels/reinforced/Wineguard etc).
