Hi All
we are back home safely after a fantastic trip, too short but
we had a great time, Home (Mornington Peninsula) to
Broken Hill,
Flinders Ranges,
Birdsville Track,
Simpson Desert,
Mt. Dare,
Lambert Centre,
Painted Desert, Ooodnadatta,
Glendambo,
Googs Track,
Ceduna, coast road to our friends
in Port Willunga,
Grampians, Home. We had no trouble or
tyre problems, found all the tracks were in great condition,
better than what we expected. Met a couple of members
Kiwi and Gary and Donna from Qld. Lots of photos and have
already planned our next trip to SD in 2009, next year we are
going to
Cape York. We found the VKS 737
HF radio was
excellent and worth the money surprised at how many crossing
the SD didn't have any communication except for UHF, a couple
didn't even have that!!! as we found out at the top of a Dune!!
One guy was very lucky, he couldn't make it over a Dune was
backing up and the vehicle fell on its side smashing the roofrack
off his gear going everywhere, we were asked to see if he wanted
help by a group of people who had stopped to help him put the
vehicle back on its feet but he didn't want any help from them or
us, we reported it to VKS 737 just to let someone know he was
out there on the WAA Line. Thanks to all for tips and advise in
helping make this a very enjoyable trip.

Hi
That sounds like a good a good trip and itinerary.
It dosent seem to worry some adventures out there
going ill prepared and no idear. We encountered the same thing
crossing the Simpson in July, adventures towing c/t trailers with no sand flags or uhf radios.

Hello Matt & Julie.
Just out of interest as I know someone who crossed the SD last week. What type of vehicle and colour that tipped?

Hi Grant
It was a White Toyota Wagon with one man on his own heading
East on the WAA Line.
