Aandy(WA)
I've been seriously considering getting a tent. I know I could trek around all the outdoor stores but I thought I'd come here to canvas the opinions of forumites. I'd be grateful for any advice as I want to get a good tent with minimum effort during the shopping process. Thanks in advance for your help.

I think if you post your price range and any preferences then you might narrow down the responses.
Canvas or nylon?
Dome or single pole?
How many people?
No of rooms you want / need.

Have you considered Black Wolf turbo tents??? How many is there going to be in the tent - just you or the whole family???
We had a turbo 300....planty of room for a dbl swag, single swag and a porta cot but now we have another little person we went and got ourselves a turbo plus 300.
They are quick as to put up and took an absolute beating on our trip last year. Ill try and get a foto of it on here for you to have a squiz.
They can be pricing but very worth the cash because they are up in under a few minutes!!

All depends on what you want and need but if it's just for you (and a friend maybe), we reckon you cant go past a Tourer style tent. We bought an Oztrail with the extended back. Had it a few years now, used it through far nth of SA extensively. My son has taken it on school camps. Its a centre pole with a rear frame and takes less that 10 minutes to put up. Buy some shade cloth to go underneath so the floor can breathe a bit and its easier to clean.
Its a good quality tent, waterproof, wind proof, etc. and at a reasonable price; below $400 when we got ours. Just seal the seams with waterproofing then hose it down before using it.
IMHO, tents are the way to go.

Get a camper trailer tent -then you'll just need a trailer for it to go on and you'll enjoy all the benefits of a camper trailer!

Thanks for all the responses. Not sure really which tent is regarded as "top of the range". Guess I'll have to give the whole thing some more thought.

Yes if you like to pole dance every time you move and kids just love falling on to poles & hanging on to them and moving them. Black wolf the way to go, you'll have no regretts. Most who have never had a Black wolf will swear by Tour tents,
southern cross & Oz tents, I have had all & waited for a Black Wolf type to come on the market. But those who don't know your opinions are always welcome, I prefer the opinion of those who have exoerienced all types of tents.

Hi Cuffs
I've certainly had all types of tents and I think it is hard too beat the single pole tourer. Besides, the missus does a great routine on the pole!
Mind you the rotine doesn't work so
well in the rooftop tent....oh
well.
Good luck
