Hi, I am thinking about putting a third battery into my 100 series std diesel. It already has a dual system controlled by a TJM IBS controller which I have found to be fantastic to date. Question is has anybody put a third under the bonnet on a 100 series and if so what, where how big? And one other question is what would be the best way to wire into my existing system? Thankyou.

Opposite Lock have a battery tray for a third battery in the TD100. It is positioned on the passenger side at the rear of the engine bay and fits an N70.

May or may not fit the standard diesel but worth checking out.

I fitted the Opposite Lock 3rd tray to my TD100 about 12 months ago. Everything you need to put it in and relocate items such as the fuel filter is supplied. I suppose you could piggyback it with the 2nd battery and make the two into one large battery. I would probably make it a separate circuit with its own controller so if one battery fails it doesn't affect the other battery. I have used a Redarc isolator for years with no problems at all - it is significantly cheaper than the likes of the IBS unit.

it was a piranha tray,a flat strap from the tray that bolts to the firewall mounts the filter assembly, still easy to access to change filter, cheers Paul

Pyro I have a 3rd battery fitted in the back of the truck, I found there was enough space behind the fridge slide in my draw set up to mount a sealed gel cell, ( confirmed with the NRMA that it would not void my policy before doing the set up ) which runs the fridge & 2 power out lets, it stays clean, is well out of the way & uses space that was previously wasted.
