In reference to the GME 4400 UHF radio, would anyone know if you fit the GME SPK04 external speaker is it any clearer & do you get more volume than the inbuilt one. Thanks in advance !

An External Speaker would be required if you mount it fully enclosed in the dash , My Icom is mounted under the roof console and the speaker is facing down with plenty of volume ,

Hi Shane
Yes to both counts.

The internal speaker setup on that radio is of poor design and subject to poling (distortion) if volumne is turned up.

Thats exactly the setup I have and the transmissions are much clearer. I have the speaker mounted just below the UHF which is in the dash of our 80 series.

Most internal speakers are < 3watts where external speakers range from 3 - 10watts where the bigger the speaker the higher the audio output. We sell bucket loads of 10watt ones for use on heavy equipment. Depends on your NVH levels of the vehicle and the amount of space you have to fit one.

Bought one yesterday & must say the clarity is better. GME are not stingy in the lead Dept, there must be about 15ft of it. Thanks for the replys !
