Just got a little issue with a new suspension kit i had installed about 500ks ago.
I had read what others did not recommend and what was a recommended product, i was after koni shocks, and the leaf springs where to be shot peind, tapered, friction pads, and a burling eye. basically a good quality kit.
What i have been sold is a second rate system. the shocks installed are desert fox (gabriel) and the springs are from what the installer says are dobinson and when i put a bit of weight in the back i believe they will sit on the bottom of the rear pack.
My question to you guys is do you think i can get my cash back from this guy or get him to install what i wanted.
I have spoken to the installer and indicated my concerns so far he basically said about the shocks yea thats right we didn't charge for koni's.
As i'm not a fan on arguing on the phone i will see them on the 29th of this month.
Can anyone help.

Regards

Stephen

Not wishing to over simplify your problem, but it seems that you are pretty sure on what you WANT, is that WHAT you ASKED for? If they failed to supply as requested or stipulated by you, then they must be in breach of contract and you shouldn't have to pay a cent. Hope you can manage to resolve something satisfactory.

Yea that is one reason why i picked this guy, what i wanted and the price was right, i feel pretty stupid about the whole experience i deal with contracts at work i did not get a written quote of this guy and the invoice is pretty vague. I thought he would use what he indicated he would use.
This is a lesson for all beginner's get it in writing.

Stephen, Price was right for obvious reasons, it wasn't the best quality gear..Go back to him nicely and ask if you can pay the difference to get what you want. As you didn't mention anything about specifying what you wanted in the first place it sounds like he gave you what he thougt was a good idea. I am no expert in what he supplied you however perhaps it isn't that bad afterall..? If you can confirm the kit is not up to it then ask him to pay the difference.

At the end of the day , excuse me for telling you this if it isn't the case, you should have specified what you wanted to begin with and both agreed on the price and the bits etc etc..

Stephen,
I can't see that you got what you asked for koni versus Gabriel the only smilarities are the letter "I" and the fact they are shocks, can't comment on the springs, don't sound like they are what you asked for. Unfortunately the old rule of "possession is nine tenths of the law" may work against you in this case. Would be hard to get the "installer" to take off what he fitted and either install your old stuff so you can go elsewhere or replace the new stuff with the right parts and then try and pass on now second hand gear, don't think so.
getting a written contract is easily said afterwards, in the heat of the moment and the excitement of getting the new parts installed this usually and sadly gets a bit neglected. Good luck trying to resolve your problem.
Keep the shiny side up

Been wondering when you would post on this.

It is one hell of a situation to be in and possibly a few options to pursue.

(1) If you have paid for what was supplied and fitted ( as opposed to what was discussed and requested) then maybe a breach of contract - verbal that it be.

In this instance you can pursue bad money with good money or cut your loses and post the coota on NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

(2) If you were not supplied with the goods and services ordered and paid for, then Consumer Affairs should be contacted.

(3) Put it down to experience and see what you can salvage from the situation.

If you select option (3) I would suggest the following may be a way out of it in the short term.

Ironman suspension supplies and fits some little helper spring thingy's that attach to the top of the top spring leaf, and may be what you need to boost the springs supplied.

Also, if the shocks are duds I would definitely put a pair of Ironman Foam cells on the rear like I have on my Troopy.

I have had Koni's on the Troopy and replaced them with the aforementioned foamcells which I firmly believe are much, much better.

Other than that call around for another Late' and we can discuss it further.

Doing night shift Ms Lucy??

1) I hope this guy will do what is right, verbal contract dont know how it would hold up in mediation

2) Contacted CA same as point 1

3) Experience cost a lot of money, in relation to ironman i could have got a full ironman system for about the same price, but for some reason i wanted koni. Now i got neither.

And the coffee sounds good i will give you a call and arrange a time flat out with work at the moment, getting every thing organised before i leave.
