As long as there are no sharp corners or projections that can injure anything you hit then it would probably be ok.
Personally I wouldn't as I don't want a highlift to be coming through the windscreen in an accident.

Also adds a fair bit of weight in front of the axle.

Ssshh!
Mate..if you ask the question to any authority, more than likely the answer will be no!
If you just do it in a sensible maner the chaces of being caught are probably nil.
And if you show some decency if and when you get questioned about it ,Then you will probably get the answer you were looking for??

Cheers

Sorry spell check isnt working!

Yes! you can mount a Hi-Lift on your bull bar, however it has to be behind the B-Bar.

ie between the B-Bar and grille.

You are not allowed to modify (Alter OEM specs) of the B-bar outwards from the B-bar itself and there are to be no sharp protusions that a pedestrian may get impaled upon if you hit same.

Problems.

(1) Weight - mentioned above

(2) Space to fit it (this is the killer)

(3) Interference with air flow to the cooling system

(4) Bugs splattering on/through it resulting in a slimy mess to deal with on the odd occasion.

(5) Brings the 'B-Bar' that much closer to the grille in a an accident.

(6) Must not cover/block any of the OEM Lights.

This is why you very rarely see one mounted there, if ever

In SA the ROAD TRAFFIC (VEHICLE STANDARDS) RULES 1999 legislation says the following:

Protrusions
30. (1) An object fitted to a vehicle must be designed, built and fitted to the vehicle in a way that minimises the likelihood of injury to a person making contact with the vehicle.
(2) However, subrule (1) does not apply to an object fitted to a vehicle if:
(a) the vehicle was designed before 1965 and the object was part of the design of the vehicle; or
(b) the object was fitted to the vehicle before 1965 in accordance with the law of the place where the object was fitted.

I expect all states have similar legislation. As Lucy says, you don’t see hi lifts mounted up front very often, which says to me they probably have similar rules.

However, considering these rules, give some thought to the common practice of fixing fishing rod holders to the bullbar. And even if some states seem to endorse it, I wonder whether the practice of mounting a large HF autotune antenna could be challenged in court – frankly I cant see why not. JD

Also they can't obstruct the drivers view and it can't be more than 2" in diameter above the bull bar.

Make me laugh when I see big spotlights above the bull bar

For two years i had my one fitted to the front of the bullbar , just bought the brackets from ARB and bolted them to the front. Never had a problem but have now removed the jack and have it behind the second spare wheel at the back.
