Hi All
I have seen the 12-HT motor mentioned in posts. 1HZ, 1HD-T, 1HD-FT and 1HD-FTE are the motors that I am aware of that are used in the 80 and 100 series Landcruisers. Where does the 12HT fit in here?

12HT was the factory turbo in the 60 series Landcruiser. Many regard it as one of the strongest turbo engines they made.

I had a 1988 HJ61 SAHARA with 12HT and agree it was the best motor ever built.

The 12HT was a beefed up 2H,and got most of its performance gains from having direct injection, yes it was turbo, but only ran 6-8 PSI boost, bottom ends where there achiles heel and Toyota still where worried about this when it released the 1HD-FTE 15 years later(thats why 100 series T/D where a long time coming).
The 1HD-T replaced the 12HT but had more bottom end failures.
There are
places out there that know how to "tune" 'em and get them really cracking.

By "really cracking", do you mean the crankshafts?

Thanks Shane,
I take it then that the 2H or the 12HT did not appear in the 80 series?
