For Roachie the Eco destroyer and No one Else.

Just had to peek didn’t you.

Had the JEEP booked in for its 60,000km service yesterday and SWMBO duly dropped same off at the Brighton JEEP Dealership Service Centre in the heart of Brighton, arguably THE second most toffy, fancy , very nice and very expensive suburb in Melbourne.

I picked her up in the old Bluebird Station wagon, which was covered in dirt, muck, bird chit (magpie) cob webs , including two farting dogs, hair and crap inside. Talk about not happy Jan, she just slunk down below the dash board like in the film ‘Uncle Buck’

Anyway told the service guy, the only thing of note was a noise when turning the engine off that sounded like Roachie starting his Chev-issan.

Piece of cake he says, I reckon I know what it is and if so will have to keep it for another day while we get the part in to replace the defective one.

Oh! Had a few of these before have you.

Nooooooooo! (Bull-chitting coota)

Later on in the day, he confirms the above so I get to take SWMBO obeyed to work that night, (nurse) and pick her up in the morning in full view of her colleagues in the Bluebird with the two farting dogs etc etc. More Uncle Buck antics.

This afternoon – phone call come and get it, all is well.

Back in the Bluebird , bright blue sunshine, very nice day, with SWMBO and the two farting dogs etc etc back down to Brighton.

As we approach the said suburb, the bitching starts about the Bluebird, my good self who hasn’t a shave for a week, covered in chit and bricks from doing something 4WD , dressed in old work clothes that a Tramp wouldn’t wear apparently, etc etc etc.

Arrive at JEEP and put her in the JEEP and she is gone like fart in gale.

Settle back and shoot the breeze with the service manager re what it was that was making the noise.

Idler motor on the throttle body he says.

Oh! Yeah! What’s that.

Because it is a fly by wire vehicle (Shut up Roachie) when you put the pedal to the metal , nothing physical happens. A signal is sent to this idler motor that operates the throttle body somehow. Anyway it was cactus and they changed it.

Later on tonight I get the use of my JEEP and try it out., and it is apparent that that idler motor thingy has been faulty since day one, cause that JEEP is now a F1 compared to the masseratti it was before the changeover.

The response to the pedal is now absolutely fantastic. There has been a funny noise in the vicinity of the aforementioned part from day one, however no one could identify it until yesterday , after it had change tone/pitch in the last month or so.

All under warranty and pleasure to deal with Chrysler (JEEP) as usual.

Gday
Mine is a" fly by wire" as well. You push the foot and stretch the wire that connects the pedal to the gas thingy hoping all the time that it won't break and leave you stranded .

M

I am hoping like the devil in hell, that I have finally come to the last electronic 'bug' in this sucker.

This new age technology is fantastic when working, but terrifying when those 'lights' start lighting up on the dash and you have to consult 4 A4 sheets of colour/blinking codes to figure out what it is and what you have to do.

Just luv it.

Does your mother know you are on the Internet un-supervised sonny.

Must have a word to her about getting and installing the new Government Internet Nanny thingy to keep you from bothering the likes of us High End Technology users.

Wonder if you can get a Aggravated Intervention Order against a 'blue eyes' for Net stalking.

What ever, you may laugh today, however your good old dinosaur technology is on the way out and you to will have the 'wonderful experience' of 'new age' diesel technology when next you buy.

It is an adrenaline rush, cause you never know whats going to happen next (LOL)

I'm with No 1 I thought Jeeps were a toss away item when broke as they not worth fixing, much like a wind up toy, similar technology. :) :)

All I can say is thank Christ that there is.................................... ONLY ONE JEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I'm with Muzz too.....My old Chev is fly by wire too (it's actaully about the thickness of a bit of line off a Hill's Hoist); well maybe not so much of the "fly" bit anymore, since I fitted the gullwing doors with a buzzer to remind me to tuck the wings before taking off....;-))

They are up at the pyrenees, just heard lucky did a tyre already, the troopy is a droopy already.
They are doing a reconnaisance mission for the gathering. They are still up now at nearly midnight.

I hired a territory once, was fun, never had a car with traction control before, gettign the light to go on was cool, easier in a paddock than the road but still possible on the road!!!

You know how it is here with multibreeds of 4wd, toyota x1 Nissan x2, Holden x1, suzuki x1 & John Deere x2.......
