Gday again.
I am mounting an external rear spot light on my roof rack to make those night set ups easier. Has anyone got a good idea from where to run the wiring out from. Its a 2000 Nissan Patrol 4.5 Lt. I've noticed the side rear air vents could be an option its just a matter of getting to them.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated
Dave

Dave have a look on the Patrol4x4
forum, I'm sure this has been discussed there.

I have been thinking of using one of the waterproof socket type plugs you can get from a good electronics
shop. I think they are called a Bulgin plug or something similar. I heard they are very waterproof and have an O ring seal plug or cap when it is not in use but I am just not sure about drilling a hole in the roof.

Hi Dave
I have my spotlights wired from the front, under the carpet all the way through and then into the space in the bodywork behind the interior panel then back out where the rear door stop strap (not sure if this is the technical term!!) comes through the door frame then tucked the wire in behind the door seal all the way up to the roof before coming out the top of the door.
I have a spade connector just inside the door that allows the lights to be unplugged when removing the roof rack as
well so I don't have to cut the wire if I need to remove the rack.
This is on an '88 DA Maverick but I'm sure the same setup would work on your vehicle. I've had no leaks through the door seal which I was worried about when I did it either.
Hope this makes sense if not I can send photo's.
Matt
