Hi
I looked briefly at getting my 78 T/D on Diesel/Gas.
The supplier was to busy even to give me a quote.
Have since spoken to a mate who is a Diesel mechanic, he see's a potential problem if the injector system malfunctions and injects to much gas, reckons you could turn the key off and it won't make any difference it will just go BOOM!
Had a few beers whilst talking to him so hope i have relayed this half correctly? :))
Cheers Lyndon

Lyndon

I am no diesel mechanic, but my understanding is

1. Gas is it is feed into air intake; has nothing to do with the injectors.

2. Gas needs diesel to ignite; no diesel no bang.

Maybe he was the one who had too many beers. I stand to be corrected.

Hi
Was led to believe once up and running the heat and compression will keep the engine running on LPG alone, if this is the case and the unit decides to dump heaps of LPG into the engine BOOM.
Could be wrong off course :)

Guys i work for UNited Fuel Injection we fit the Lovato computer controlled fumigation system every week to all types of 4x4 and it is failsafe with this system.I have not seen the diesel gas system fitted but have dynoed a few.

Give us a call and come and have a chat. The whole tune is mapped ona laptop and setup to suit your application ,ie towing, fuel economy, range.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the reply have thier been any problems so far?
Have you dynoed a 100's T/D ? What power gains are you really likely to get?

No problems whatsoever mate,Have you got a 1HZ or 1HD-FTE. Average power gains have been from 12-21Kw and around 30Nm of torque.

We have fitted a couple to 100's with good results.

Hi Matt,

I have the 1HD-FTE motor, have just found out a guy at work is having his T/D 06 cruiser converted on Wednesday so will check his out . They claim he will get 30%-50% increase ??? This sounds a hell of an increase compared to your actual figures. Maybe this may be achieved with a D-Tronic type module as well as the gas.

Yes that is a big claim with just gas, a bit closer to 30% would be my guess.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Matt,

My mate has just had his cruiser retuned after retune and dyno. It is now putting out 183 kw at the fly wheel to say he is happy is an understatement . He reckons it was $850 (+$3000 subsidy) well spent , the nose of the cruiser actually lifts when he gives it a boot full.
