Hi all, this is not to bag out the ZD30 and dont want replys coming to my email inbox about the ZD30. I have purely put this on here incase there is anyone out there that does have issues with Nissan and if this can help in any way for them to get there motor repaired if need be under warranty or if like other members on here are chasing up information to help them with any current or previous issues they may have/had. This was a question that was asked by a reader in todays Telegraph about the ZD30 in the motoring section. PLEASE no war on this. As said it is here if it can help anybody out. Regards Steve M
I read with interest about you having a meeting with Nissan about the engine failures of the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel Patrol. I own one and am very interested in what Nissan had to say. How did the meeting pan out?
Pooley, email
The meeting didn't happen, but Nissan's corporate affairs manager, Jeff Fisher, recently sent me a letter that might help ease your mind. I quote: "We acknowledge that we have received the occasional call relating to ZD30 diesel engines and that each received prompt attention from our customer service representatives in conjunction with the Nisspn dealer network. In each identified instance, where we have seen some form of product defect, Nissan has worked to resolve the issue to the satisfaction of the owner according to the terms of the Nissan new car warranty (three years, 100,OOOkm). In that context, Nissan also maintains a proactive support to owners of vehicles during ownership periods beyond the standard factory warranty. The circumstances surrounding product comments, (such as those made by your readers], in our experience, usually involve older vehicles (often second and third owners, out of warranty and often with high mileage and unknown usage patterns). Like most
manufacturers, we encourage owners to maintain their vehicle in partnership with manufacturer's guidelines and its dealer network. This is especially in the knowledge that
advanced diesel engine technology can be vulnerable to failure should it be subject to misuse or neglect. Alternatively, we are quite prepared to discuss technical and operational details directly with customers, owning either new or older Nissan products, before and duringtheir period of ownership. Our National Customer Service Centre number is 1800 035 035. I trust this clarifies Nissan's position and hope this has illustrated how we deliver prompt and resultsbased outcomes with our customers in attending to specific product matters as they may arise." Unfortunately the letter doesn't actually claim that the problem has been fixed. (f you have any doubts about your vehicle, take up the offer to phone Nissan's Customer Service Centre.

I have a friend, who I can name for contact, had his late 2002, (3l. Patrol) 70000km. expire about 2 mths out of warranty.
He was getting absolutely nowhere with the dealer (from where he bought it new) and from info. gleaned from this
forum obtained the name/phone contact for the very helpful lady in
Melbourne.
It was finally agreed that his expired engine (holed piston) would be rebuilt, his contribution assessed at $2700 for fitting, oil, coolant etc.
The debacle took 12 weeks to finalise, the day after he picked the vehicle up he was no longer a Nissan owner.
And they are still going BANG.
That Nissan is still pursuing the line that comes through in your post has only one word to describe it.... CRAP
