Has anyone had experience with these cheap batteries. I know we normally get what we pay for, but at under $200 for 100 A/h it's very tempting as I need 200 A/h.
The brands are Northstar, and Fiamm Monolite.
I value your opinions and advice.
Thanks, Marion

G'ay Marion,
I had a look at those Fiamm batteries. They are the Chinese ones not the U.S.A ones.
They are made specifically to power telephone exchanges. If you are willing to live with this, ie, they are not designed to travel in vehicles or trailers along bumpy roads, then they are fine
Hope this helps

Hi Roande
Thanks for the research. Made in USA is not necessarily what it appears these days anyway!
My Hiace won't be as still as a telephone exchange but, apart from the odd access road, it won't/shouldn't be doing anything resembling 4WD stuff.
Might give it a go.

Given whats said above on would imagine the saving is in the robustness of the plate mounting in the battery. If u need 200 a/h then maybe go one Fiamm and one recognised battery and see how it goes. that way if one goes phut hopefully u wont be in strife. And if its all good with the cheapie then let us know.

Hi Bonz
Good thinking.
I'd already thought of splitting the 200 A/h between 2 batteries. Had mixed messages on mixing non-matching batteries. But If they are metred and I learn to know what to look for in case of trouble, I might be lucky.
I guess if you don't hear from me, it's still working!

If these batteries are designed for stationary use, then I wouldn't use them in ANY vehicle.
