I currently have a 3 ltr Suby Outback and two a 1500kg van. I average 17 ltr per 100K. Is this considered average, good or heavy considering it's a full size van.

G'day joz, can't comment on a Subaru, but we have a 16 foot pop top, loaded weight somewhere between 1400 & 1500 Kg. We did an 9000 K trip about 12 months ago towing it with a Camry 3 Litre V6. We averaged 18 Litres/100Km for the total trip.
We did have one leg with a decent head wind & it was staggering watching the fuel guage go down!! 29 Litres/100 Km. But overall I was happy with the fuel consumption.
We have since updated to a twin cab diesel, not for purposes of fuel economy, but just wanted a tow vehicle that had a much greater towing capacity than we needed, just for safety. Happy travelling.
