My mate took his Prado Grande to
Cape york recently, up the whole of OTl, Gulf country and down to
Birdsville and it went like a dream, so anyone else who have been haunted by the air bags failing, maybe its the operator as this one never had a problem, and it was loaded up as
well. So don't worry there great vehicles...........Go Prado
Cheers seven.

I did Big Red in a Suzuki in 1987, no worries. Don't think Prados were invented then?

As capable as the Prado is the Grande would not be the model to pick if one was regually touring outback. On a trip to the Vic
Big Desert we had a shiny new Playdoe repetively have the rear airbags lower themselves due to the modest weight it was carrying resulting in it getting bogged. 6 flat tyres, traction control failed then the dash computer blew leaving no air conditioning, music or navigation system. Left the owner feeling as though the extra money & features of the Grande were a waste in offroad applications, so much so he intended to down trade to a lower spec with real springs.
With a few mods the Prado can be transformed into an excellent offroader & if like any brand of car you get one with less bells & whistles then there is less things to go wrong. (KISS)
Cheers Craig.............

Have to agree there that GXL is highest spec you would go to in order to avoid all the electronic gadgetry that can stuff up when you need it most in the Prado range.
Am sure this applies equally to other makes as
well. Disco3 being a real contender here. Way too many things to stuff up when remote.

Gee, there are drivers and drovers, look after your vehicle and it will go anywhere.

Had to laugh too at a guy who decided to take his Grande for a bit of a play putting it into a slide on some loose gravel. As he expected the stability control took over applying the brakes but what he wasn't ready for was the seatbelt pretentioners slamming him back in the
seat :-))

Hmmm, interesting.
I thought pretensioners were a one off device that are triggered in the event of a prang.
Nice try.

I was surprised too John that they would activate when the car was thrown into a severe slide but that's what I was told 1st hand. No doubt they would be set off in a frontal collision as
well.
