As you nay have read we have just returned from a trip.
Unpacked and cleaned out the Troopy removed the Engel fridge and put it in the shed, hooked up to 240vac (wed) today walking past and temp gauge shows 13 deg c, investigate the problem.
Fridge not making any noise, took out and hooked it up to the Troopy 12vdc and turn on volt meter reading 13.5 volts turn thermostat on and volts drop to 10.5 volts BUT no noise!
Any idea's
the model is a MT25E-G4 Engel
I think the solenoid on the swing motor is gone or swing motor sized
will it be worth repairing or toss it and get a newie
Thanks
Richard

I pulled one of them apart to see if I could find something simple to fix........But it is loaded with heaps of electronics...more than a weaco.....had to send it off to the manufacturers for repair or replace....they replaced it.....but not for free.....it cost the company for a new one...regards Phil

would seem to me that if its either the motor or the solenoid both are worth replacing

Thanks Bonz
Will look into it next week, good thing it didn't die on the trip,
But then again I would rather the Engels bakdown than the Troopy LOL

mmm
what solenoid ....they dont have a solenoid..it is a swing motor/compressor....lets get the facts right....just beacuse it works similar to a solenoid doesnt make it a soleniod...strewth, next you'll be saying your nissan's are toyotas...cos they work similar?.....god help us if that ever happens
anyway its a bit hard to say what has exactly gone wrong...could be the electronic drive or compressor or both.....
from my experience it could be worth fixing but get a price first...... have had a couple fixed in the past..one of them twice...third time it came back it was a NEWby....good service by the service agent even though it was a nuisnace when it failed for my customer....these things are best left for the service agent as IMO they are not easily diagnosed with the correct info and test equipment for the electronic drive....

Thank for the correction.. LOL is not a coil if wire that turns off and on the same as a solenoid?
Anyway I tried removing the wire going to the motor / compressor and no voltage drop, tried whacking it a couple of time and still doesn't work (works with SWMBO.. LOL..that was a joke there boy I say a joke), will tack it in for a quote if the sight of a NEW shiny one doesn't get me first..
Cheers Richard
