Hi, Wanting to take the family
camping on the murray near yarrawonga. Can anyone give me some info on good
places to pitch a tent. We have two little ones so would love a
sandy beach to set up on.
Cheers

Hi Chedo
'Spatial Vision" put out a series map booklets called "
Murray River Access" that covers different sections of the Murray. There is one that covers - Yarrawonga, Mulwala, Cobram, Barooga, Tocumwal and Ulupna Island. They show all the access roads and tracks, beach area's,
camping and picnic areas etc.
I can't remember the cost, but they were not dear.
You can buy them at
camping shops and information centres in the area, or you could try the Yarrawonga
Visitor centre Ph: 03-57441989 or Spatial Vision themselves on 03-96913000 (www.spatialvision.com..au)
Regards
Neil

Excellent
camping along the river in the Cobrawonga forest between Cobram and Yarrawonga, on the Vic. side. NSW side looks OK also, but I've only camped on the Vic. side.

Head west from the roundabout at Yarrawonga on the MV highway. Travel for approximately 8km there is a track on your right...take this to the river (keep veering right as you go) there is a huge open grassy
camping area with a great
sandy beach. Place is known as Forges Bend - about 1.5 km from the highway. Only facility is a 2 can long drop. Firewood is extremely scarce so make sure you pick some up along the way.
This is one of my favourite sites along the Murray.
Cheers

Were down there 2 weeks ago. The river is very low but is a great spot to
camp with sandy beaches and wood of you look for it. There is talk of letting
water out of Lake hume for the irrigators so the level may come up soon.
