As i Live in area that has difficult TV reception, instead of replacing the TV aerial with something fancy i installed a free to air satellite system.
Channel surfing on the weekend i caught on Impaja, 4wd TV. What a show great to watch to kill some time and the kis love to see the challenges.
Now that i get all the smaller channels like impaja, NITV, 31 you get to realise that there are some great shows out there dont make mainstream TV. Also being in
perth and 2 hours behind i also get to watch shows earlier.

No you dont get the digital broadcasted channels such as abc2. You get the normal ABC, SBS, etc but not all the commercial ones like nine & 10. Although here we have GWN and WIN which between them pick up the best of the commercials.
The cost was approx $650, it is essentially the same system that people are buying for travelling except a slightly bigger dish, and the decoder is 240volt.And it is cabled into the house. There is two aerial outlets on the wall one satellite and one normal. The decoder is connected into the DVD player as another channel. So we can watch normal tv as
well.

When daylight saving kicks in you will have 5 time zones for the ABC and 4 for SBS.
NSW is eastern Autralian daylight saving time, SA half an hour later, QLD an hour behind, NT and hour and a half (no SBS), and WA 2 hours behind. You can watch The Chaser 5 times, or once when you get home late from the pub :)

I moved house a few months ago. One of the priorities was to set up the TV (as you do). Did an auto. set up and there was TVS free to air, and just happened to be on 4WDTV. I watch it regularly now- but seems to be a lot of the 'challenge' extreme type stuff on, and not a lot of general 'touring' type activities.

I am sure that in the show on the weekend that there was a vehicle with an ExplorOz bumper sticker. Didn't catch the show repeat on Sunday so couldn't double check.
Cheers Kev

Alan, I hear your excitement and good on you but if your system is a registered Aroura card type then I would be a bit careful talking it up too much.
If your location is
Perth then to my Knowledge they would not like you accessing all channels mentioned.
Please accept this advice in good faith.

I understand your comments, but we are actually
well outside the metro area and from what we understand we are a legal setup. It is similar to the portable types except if it fitted to the house.

Ooooops wrong button......
Linka complete setup for $399 + delivery. You don't need to pay a fortune for Sat Tv. These units are Irdeto compliant and have all the bits 'n' pieces. I have no connection with the company.

Optus Aurora card is $80 extra, or Select TV is $30 a month. Postage was $26 to my postcode.
So $525 with Aurora card and postage. Still a good price.
