Hi All

Just wondering if anyone out there has had any experiences with the Kennels in Broome (good, bad or indifferent). We are going to be doing 5-8 weeks in the Kimberleys next year and want to take the pooches as far as Broome incase we decide to stay in the Kimberleys indefinitely we won't have to drive all the way back to Kalgoorlie or Perth to get them.

Any idea of rates (i have heard they are expensive and prices is based on weight) we have 2 huskies (25kg and 21kg). Basically we just want to know if they are good and if they really care about the animals as we have had to put the dogs in some shockers of kennels and they don't really appreciate it (spend the next few days sulking). Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link, but I am after first hand info on what the kennels are like. Easy for the person running the kennel to say they are good but want to knowwhat people who have boarded their dogs there think (for example we were hesitant to leave mutts at kennel in kalgoorlie as the guy there seemed like a right royal tosser but had been given very positive feedback from other clients, we left our dogs there for 5 weeks and when we came back they seemed to be very happy).

Try calling the local Vet, they seem to know good operators in the area.

Cheers Kev

I bet they recommend the Broome Veterinary Kennels.

We left our dog there for around 4 days a couple of years back.

It was Broome Cup week and like the rest of town, the kennels were full. I assume they have a transient workforce like the rest of town - so you might find the service differs from year to year.

Were not sure if we will take him back to those kennels.

Good Luck

Don't leave your dog with any kennels!!! They're all crap. My boy came back in horrible condition from the vets up the road from the firestation, behind the camping shop.

A good mate of mine up there told me that there is absolutly no one who knows how to look after a dog.

Sorry to drop that on you but unfortunatly thats the truth. I lived there for 7 months and left my doberman with that vet near the fire station, he came back with fight wounds, dirty and dusty and just unwell.

Take your dog with you everywhere.

Sorry can't help you with Broome, but we used the kennels in Karratha a few times when we were living up there it was usually only for 1-2 nights when we went on shopping trips there, they wee pretty good. Don't know about kennels in Perth but most RSPCA shelters are pretty good for boarding as they are run by people who actually care about animals. The kennels in Kalgoorlie I would not go near, travelling back to SA from the Pilbara once I was going to leave my dog there and stay in a motel. When the guy and his skank had finished shooting up in the house they finally came out at which point after having a look around the shabbiness of the facilities I ended up sleeping in the car that night with the dog, because it looked like the sort of place you woulld later see on Today Tonight on a animal neglect case.

Cheers

Snowy
