Hi guys,

Looking at replacing my rack sack and pondering the Michelle's sac version - I've done a search but can't find much at all in the archives.

Pretty sure that this is one of the very few which is water proof.

I know they aren't cheap.

Any opinions on them out there??

Do it!!! I have one and they are fantastic - kept everything dry in torrential rain a couple of years back while travelling through the N.T. (when they had all the floods). Also kept the Karratha dust out of everything. I looked at a heap of different brands before buying one and have no regrets at all

ps - the tie-down strap system is great - holds everything firmly + it is amazing how much gear you can fit in to one

Ivan

I have one that is nearly 5 years old. Th equality is great and waterproof and dust proof. Mine is a canvas one, in the last couple of years they change to the same material as tonneau cover. But i reckon these would be even better than canvas and it the manufacturing quality is as good you cant go wrong.

As the replies suggest Ivan, the bags are great.Mine took about a dozen uses before the canvas began to become a little more supple and the velcro / zip combination became a little more 'user friendly'.

They keep dust and water out and are easy to brush off. Whilst it has the used look it is still a great bit of kit. I'm sure you will be very happy if a purchase is made.

Cheers

I purchased a bag to attach to the spare wheel from TJM (Michelles Sacs). After a few months the zipper broke so I phoned Michelles in Brisbane and simply posted the bag to them. They replaced the zipper at no charge (didn't even have to produce a receipt). It took a bit of time but that was because we went away for a while and there were a few other things going on. The quality is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of their gear

Mate ,
if you wanting it for the next couple of weeks then you need to worry about the dust more than the water.

Purchased michelle large roof sac 3 years ago, after 12 months it had holes in it caused by sac rubbing on the straps caused by wind, yes I had the straps tight.Saw Michelle at 4W/Drive show & was told she was not responsable for wear & tear, I told her that it was a design fault but she didnt want to know, very very dissapointing. wouldnt even repair it.
She has since changed the material she makes the sacs out of, I rest my case.It also leaked water in heavy rain.I have just finished 9 years on the road in my caravan & have tried 3 different sacs which are on the roof full time, bushranger was useless. one I had made but had had it after 3 years & was very expensiveThe hard bottom & antiflap straps on michelles are great & if the new material is waterproof & hard wearing it will be a great sac.I wont buy another of her products because of the service I recieved.
This is my first time on site, looks great for info on lots of things
