Jutho outlined problem he had with contaminated fuel
In the
Gold Coast bulletin today is an article on a new warning system to protect diesel engines,
It looks something like this
Basically the fuel is diverted to unit and if
water is in diesel a warning beeper will come on .
Water can then be drained from unit and when beeper stops vehicle is safe to drive again.
If new fuel has been obtained evidence is there, as the
water particles are easily seen on side of unit.
Inventor is Alan
Clare of
Gold Coast Diesel Specialists (Ph 07 55 637844)
I am having one fitted today.

HI Pedro, isnt the one on the bottom of the original filter suppose to do the same job. I know my lux had it and would sound an alarm and dash light if any
water was trapped in the bottom housing and you would just open the plastic screw thread to let the
water out. I thought all diesels had the same set up ?? Or is this new one your talking about just another similiar set up so you have two in line for more protection ?? Actually looking at your pic looks like the one I had on the ski boat only I had a filter attached between the the top part and the glass bowl was fitted underneath,l cant remember the brand was a common one.Regards Steve M

Stephen M,
The way it was explained to me is that yes the Toyota unit does have the filter and warning sensor , but this new unit traps the
water before it gets to the Toyota filter and
water can be drained .
The alert system on new unit will keep sounding whilst there is
water in unit, and acts as a safety mechanism to indicate vehicle should not be driven.
When I first saw it it reminder me of the cav filter on my boat.

Got ya now. Gets rid of the
water and lets you know before it hits the main filter and stuffing it. At least you can see it. Good one. Regards steve M

Had unit installed today on the 2007 Prado D4D and this is what it looks like
It is similar to a cav filter with an alert sensor and is designed to warn that
water is in fuel prior to it getting to fuel system of vehicle.
A kit can be purchased and forwarded interstate .
Feel free to mention my name if you make enquiries

Vince,
Quoted price fitted was $785.
As
mine was the first Prado D4D he gave me a discount.
I mentioned to Alan that I was posting on
forum and he said he can arrange delivery of the kit interstate or wherever with instructions, for a lot less than that price.
Unfortunately could not tie him down to a price for members but
mention you saw the one installed on Pedro's Prado via Exploroz, and this might assist price wise
