Hey Justin. Mate I had them before on a 100 Series Landcruiser, drove from Perth to Broome and back plus did a heap of off roading up there, been in mud, rock and sand and find them fantastic!

I've just bought a new ML Turbo Diesel Triton duel cab and they're just as good there as well. I highly recommend a set of Coopers to anyone.

Thanks Brett

How come either people love them or have had terrible experiences with them? Are their quality control standards that up and down that every now and then a BAD set is sold, or what do you think the reasoning behind the bad and good comments?

I can understand holden vs ford type argument, blah blah blah, but some people swear by how bad they are. Did they just get a dodgy set, and I wonder if they got them replaced or what?

I just want to get as informed as possible, I like the look of the coopers and have "heard" people getting 120k on them, I would be happy with 90k, so I dont know, these bad comments are stopping me I guess. I need to know what happened when the tires fell apart with these users, did they get a new tyre or what?

anyway, thanks for the comment, one for the YES side!

regards
Justin

Mate I don't know why people whinge about them. I've had no problems what so ever with my Coopers, they've been awesome in the mud, sand and rock. Coopers give you a warrenty card and if you follow that, get them rotated and signed off then you'll be right as rain.

Personally I think there was a bad batch but due to the negative response they've had to pull their finger out and really sort out the products.

A good mate of mine has had 3 sets of Coopers on his Patrol over the last few years and gets between 95000 and 120000 out of them before he replaces them.

Seriously, I'd say go and get a set, you'll love 'em

Less than $345 per Tyre F&B for ATR's. :-)

Check out that all prices compared include fitting and balancing or not.....some sneaky fellas don't state this and the extra ends up costing the same anyway.

It also depends on if you need a wheel alignment at the same time....it was suggested to me that this is a wise investment to start off new tyres. Factor in this cost if possible.

Hey listen - is that Pajero of yours any good?

I'm starting to think I might have to buy one to replace the Jack.

Problem is the NS VRX or Exceed have 18" wheels and there's no AT rubber for them that I can find on Google.

Can't stand the idea of 18" wheels sorry......16's are nice IMO.

I'd buy one for the comfort factor alone, though each to their own i suppose.

Gotta go, flight to catch.

Ive read a few people say they arent any good, but with a 90k guarantee, how can you lose? I am thinking to get some even though Ive read a few guys like u say otherwise, so the proof is in the pudding I guess. I will post back here if they let me down.
cheers

"with a 90k guarantee, how can you lose?

Theres plenty of ways you can lose:
http://www.coopertires.com.au/cooper/warranty.htm
#1 They require a wheel alignment, balancing and rotation every 10k - add up the cost of these, and you could buy another tyre
#2 There are a huge number of conditions.
#3 The warranty only applies in cooper dealers in capital cities - in the bush....no chance
#4 The dealer can refuse warranty if any "defect" is found with your vehicle.
#5 Mileage varies with tyre size.
#6 A participating dealer has the right to refuse or vary the warranty period based on their discretion, or because of the particular use of the vehicle.
#7 Conditions resulting from consumer damage, such as improper tyre and vehicle maintenance, misuse, abuse, accident.
#8 Ride complaints after the first 1mm tread wear.
#9 Ozone or weather cracking on tyres over four (4) years from date of purchase.

Yeh I see your point.
"A participating dealer has the right to refuse or vary the warranty period based on their discretion, or because of the particular use
of the vehicle."
THis ones ridiculous, thats basically saying they can say no for the hell of it.

What tyres do you recommend Phil?

"What tyres do you recommend Phil?"
I try not to recommend tyres. I'll happily state my experience and that of those I travel with.

Differences between tyres are overstated. If you know how to look after them, you'll more than likely have a good run out of them.

A lot of people trash tyres on desert trips. Usually because they drive too fast, with too much pressure on the roads that lead to deserts. Then on tracks they run over mulga and wonder about sidewall stakes.

In recent years, I've had good runs out of Goodyear MTR, Silent Armour and BFG ATKO and Muddies. I've not owned Coopers but they are the most advertised tyre on the planet which irks me, as I don't believe their claims are substantiated.

I paid $248 each balance and fitted for same size st's. I have run mostly with coopers and not had any problems, (touch wood), but I have seen many chipped, sliced and diced, as well one with a complete side wall failure, stt.
