Hi all,
I have a 1996 80 series diesel GXL. I have purchased new drilled and slotted front rotors. I have heard that fitting 100 series pads gives a slight improvement due to slightly larger pad. Is this correct and do they fit in easily to the 80 series calipers? Is there any particular 100 series model pads that you should use?
Any information gratefully received.
Thanks
Guy

Hi Guy
I have just done this to my 1997 80 series standard. The pads you need are off a 4.5litre petrol 100 series. They do fit staight in and give you a 25% increase in pad surface area. the only problem i had was that they are a few thou thicker and needed a slight buff on some sand paper to fit and were tight for the first 100klms. There is a noticable increase in performance but also in the dust left on the rim. I Guess it depends also on the pads you use. I got
mine from Supercheap with the ferado pads free with the disks! You get what you pay for i guess.
cheers

Guy,
I have a 95 80 series and just for future reference you may want to try Bosch brake pads. I use them in my 80 and they work, in my opinion, better than OEM ones and leave minimal dust on your rims. I have had them in my car for over 2 years now and they still have heaps of life left in them (about 6.5mm).
PS. they are not a metal pad.
