Off to
lightning ridge in October with 5 kids 8-14 yr olds. Anybody got some good specific ideas of where to go to noodle and other things to keep everyone amused and interested. Also good
camping areas around sheepyards etc. Thanx

Hi!
I would definately suggest taking the whole family into John Murray's
art gallery all the family will like it I use some of his prints as a basis for art classes at schhol. Go to the
bore baths the whole family will enjoy it ask around and someone will tell you where to noodle our family has been to
the ridge twice. Think about
camping at
Lorne station not the flashest but the ammenities are clean you can have a fire and the owner will take you for a free tour over the opal diggings and she has somewhere you csn noodle.
hope this helps

The best action is at Glengarry about 60 km west of
lightning ridge ...There is not much opal mining around
the Ridge nowdays but call at the
Visitors centre and get a mud map of Glengarry and sheepyards...thats the real wild west centre of the opal action. heaps of spots to
camp in the bush and go noodling on the mullick heaps signs every day tell you which one is open or closed. Just ask the Aboriginals on the mullick heap what to look for they are very friendly and will show you what to do. If you are interested I have a full GPS track log for the area which I can send you showing where the
camp sites are and the mullick heaps.
