Expect some heavly corrigated roads up north plus the CREB track (local favourite) is closed at the moment due to rain i think.

Where would you start on things not to miss up the Cape.

Bloofield Track
Cooktown (a day or two)
Lakefield (a bit rough between Old Laura and Kalpower)
North via Musgrave (the graders have started towards Coen)
Good river side camp at Coen & Archer
Iron Range-Chilli Beach (frenchmans track to Weipa) Permits now required from Batavia Downs to camp on the Wenlock
Day or three in Weipa (on way up or back)
OTL both ways
Elliot Falls (both ways)
From the ferry there are lots to see and do (trip to TI)

There has been a lot of rain in the last couple of weeks (the road was still open last monday but bloody wet in spots)

Have a great trip.

Hi Tony,

You say in your email that you need a permit to camp on the Wenlock. Is the road from Batavia Downs across to the Weipa road public or does it also need a permit?

Thanks

It's a private road but they allow travellers to use it. In the past couple of weeks there has been a lot of cattle shot from the road and they have really got the sh#ts with locals and tourists alike, a lot of the local families used to go over to the Wenlock Falls to camp on their days off, no more, but you carn't blame the owners of Batavia.

They were towing with idea of closing the Frenchmans Track as it passes through Batavia country, to date its still open.

By the way the road over to the OTL is getting very rough and boggy and slow going in places.
