Hi all,
I am looking for advice as to how you secure your three way fridge in the camper trailer when travelling to prevent it moving around. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris.

Fix some handles on the side and use tie downs?

I have an Evakool not a three way but I would not put it in the trailer even if it had shockies. Every thing in the trailer goes in nylex boxes because of all the rattling around and incurred damage to the things that a a bit fragile. The hilux takes the corrugations much better and that is where it sits close to the tailgate with some shock absorbing matting under.
If you are not going off the bitumen then I suppose the trailer could be an option.
Thats my experience anyway.

G'day Chris, I had my chescold in my trailer when I was living in
Port Hedland. It survived (& is still going strong) eight years of exploring the Pilbara/
Kimberley and central deserts. All I did was sit it in place, tekscrewed (to the floor) a piece of 50 x 50 x1.6 angle iron along each side with a heavy piece of rubber between the angle and the fidge (this stoppped any sideways or back &
forth sliding) and used two ratchet straps over the top of the fridge to stop it jumping up when I hit a washout or similar. The only drawback was that I had to undo one of the tiedowns to open the fridge. I'm sure you will get heaps of ideas. Good luck, Mudness

Hi Cobes
Our RC1180 sits on a fridge slide, underneath the fridge there are two captive nuts that are moulded into the case, from memory they are M8. I have used these to secure the chescold to the slide.

I made a frame from 20mm RHS. This allowed the fridge to be ratchet stapped horizontally around the middle. The Vertical ratchet strap was offset to around 80% to one side so that the top door could still be opened without undoing the ratchet strap.
I had no end of problem with my RC1180 getting cool on gas, 240V or 12V. Didn't matter how level it was, how much air circulation it got, how little 12V voltage drop there was. Was just a pain. They do not appear to last
well in the back of a 4X4 or trailer on corrugated roads.
Hope your experience is better
