way back in july we spent a month in the centre but on night 4 we broke down 40K's south of Oodnatta. Can't thank those people who stopped to help enough. Unfortunatley no one could solve our problem. To the Disco guy with the camera I would like to see the pic's of my Prado with the bonnet. LOL To those interested the guy before me put the hot wire through the ignition not direct to the battery and we blew the 30amp ignition fuse.Thank god for Total Care the tow to Alice cost them $3500 just to start with. Back to the reason for this THANKS to those of you who stopped. The month was great even with this minor setback.

So that was the "Toyota Extra Care" service that recovered the vehicle? I have that with my leased Prado. First time I have heard of them being put to the test on any sort of "remote" recovery.

So 3.5k to tow and you did not have to pay anything. THAT makes it worth it!

Cheers

In my case the cost of the service was $225 for 5 years (the length of the lease).

Includes unlimited callouts with same sort of services as the RAA/RACQ/NRMA type places. I actually had to use it the other day for a flat battery here at home (the 2nd battery did not quite have enough oomph to turn it over either) and expected to maybe see an RAA van on subcontract. The bloke that turned up was in a totally unmarked white dual cab Triton with a canopy. Only indication it was a service vehicle was the orange light bar on the roof. 45 minutes from callout to his visit.

I know that they say it covers towing from any location to the nearest Toyota dealer however I am unsure if there are limits on the towing distance and my question to the original poster was whether he had the same service. Nice to know that a recovery like that one is covered.

Actually the Total Care was thru RACV cost us $40 to upgrade for the balance of our membership year and then it will cost $166 per year. Don't like to rattle on BUT it was so easy to organise and they were just FANTASTIC with everything right down to a couple of outstanding bills we sent in when we got home. If you travel and your not in something like this your a ..............???

I have two vehicles, the Sirion and the Jack. both are registered in my name, and I have RACV Total Care on the Sirion. When/if I have a problem with the Jack, it is covered as my alternative vehicle.

So in effect it is the driver that's covered, not the car. Only time it might be an issue would be if we both needed a callout at the same time.....

I love it.
