Ray
I'm heading up in June, from this
forum looks like there will be a score of people up there as
well. It's the first time for me, been as far as
Cape Melville a couple of years ago but that's as far north. Info I'm after is 1. Since it will be
well on the way to winter by the start of July when we return how cold will it be, will coats be needed? 2. On the way up which are the cheapest towns/spots to buy fuel, any I should avoid, I can get approx 700 klm per tank? 3. I notice most people say to walk the creeks before crossing, is it really worth it with the big lizards up there or is it generally safe at the crossings??? 4. Is it worth getting access and going into Shelburne Bay? 5. Anyone know the price of cabins at Shelburne Bay, may have to treat the Boss when we get there?
The last one I'll leave until it's closer to the date we leave (7 June) which is what's the weather like rain wise.
Thanks all.

Hi Ray,
Sounds like a nice trip you have planned. Hate to upset you, but we are also planing a trip there at the same time.
Q1: Take a coat mate, you never know when you may need it.
Q2:
Check out the fuel prices on this web site, verry informative.
Q3: Hmmm the final decision is up to you, but i would walk a crossing if the water was clear, no overhanging trees & not fast flowing or too deep.
Q4: Cant help you there im sorry.
Q5: Give them a call.
Check out Ron & Viv Moons book "
CAPE YORK An Adventures Guide" (available from all good book stores or this web site) very informative.
PS. That was not a sales pitch.
All the best.
