Has anyone got any bright ideas for easily removing (eg sliding) a porta potti in and out from under the bed in a caravan? Is there a commercial product that the potti could sit on which has a slide mechanism?

Hi RDan, I have never seen a slide for one but they may exist. Usually the van maker has a cupboard to suit which does not have a peice of timber across the opening on the floor. This allows it to be pulled out without the need to lift. If your cupboard has the wood in place you could carefully cut it out with a tenon saw to allow the PP to be pulled out.Good luck

Hi RDan

I guess you could try a good fridge slide, they will support about 120KG, but it would have to be a good one.

Have fun

I'm yet to see a portable fridge that would weigh 120 kg and a slide to support it. Some domestic firdges might weigh that much.

That is more than most adults weigh unless your morbidly obese or heading that way.

60lt fridge weighs nearly 40kg plus in theory 60kg of food = 100kg.

You are right most adults weigh 85kg plus 25kg for the toilet = 110kg.

ever thought of just a bucket for number 1's and digging a hole for number 2's? Sorry, just can't get into the idea of carrying a load of crap around :)

A hole is no where near as bad as 'disposable baby nappies'...see them on the side of tracks after being thrown out the window...Yuk

G'day Mick
Interesting response there?. I tend to camp in remote places this is why i dig a hole! Question, picture this, you are camped in a remote place for a couple of weeks where do you empty your porta potti? Might just dig a hole hey?. Or maybe your just a black top man and are in a town every day, if so fine.

We put the unit on a mat. Just pull on the edge of the mat and it comes out easily - pushes back in just as easily.

Thanks everyone

My husband ended up putting the potti on a tray with nylon caster wheels. Works a treat.
