I am chasing some info on what people have done to replace the luxury stereo unit that comes with the poverty pack cruiser :))

I am leaning towards a FH-P4200MP In-Dash Radio Cassette and CD (Double DIN) found in This link somewhere :)

It is stacker compatible as well as MP3 and Ipod compatibile.

Am I heading in the right direction or does someone have a better idea.

Cheers Kev

I have installed a Sony single Din radio/CD player in the upper spot, and my Sawtron UHF in the lower.

Stu,

The UHF is already mounted elsewhere and I couldn't be bothered moving it LOL

I installed a single DIN unit with CD in the bottom and a motorised slide out screen for my moving map display in the top.

Hi Kev, I went through this scenario about 2 months back and ended up spending $2700.00 on a VMS unit which has DVD, MP3, CD, Radio, Bluetooth, Navigation and Ozieplorer built in. Mate great unit and good price for what the unit is capable of doing.
I fitted the unit myself with the factory harness connector. Take a look at there websiteVMS System for 100 Series Cruiser
If you need any help just drop me a line.

Worm,

Looks a good unit. I may have to win the lotto to put it in though LOL

But as a long term unit it may be a better option as it is reversing camera compatibile

Cheers Kev

Nahh your way off track son ,
1 why do you need the old fashion jam it up Cassette
2 why do you need a Stacker

Get yourself a good brand of radio [non chinese] with a USB port on the front, stick all the MP3s you like on a Flash drive or 2 or 3 , I find a 1gb will hold about 300 songs , its small, cannot jump on corrugationm it has no moving parts, no wires, just pure solid LOUD stereo music Like this , I see a few brands are beginning to add USB ports now, Imagine a car radio without the CD mechinism in it , just a USB port , would only have to be 50mm deep

That looks the goods Doug, and It's cheaper than the one I was looking at, only problem it has is it is made in China ha ha ;))

I wonder if they will bring out a unit that will use SD cards instead of Flash drives

Thanks for your assistance

Cheers Kev

What do you mean made in China, I got my JVC from a shop in Midland WA , it was made in Japan , that's why I bought it , it to replace one made in China , and that leads us to answer your question about SD Cards, that was 1 of 3 reasons why I bought it from AutoBarn in Mt Isa , it had SD slot, USB port, and a Mike, and the concept was fantastic but the quality was crap , the radio station audio reproduction was lousy, I took it back and let them have a listen, They said the speakers must be done, so I had the old radio on the seat, and ready to plug in, there was nothing wrong with the speakers, so they gave me another, this 2nd one kept turning it self off, they gave me a 3rd , this one died in WA so I just gave up and got the JVC , I do believe there are other brands radio's on the market with SD slot , shop around and get a good one if they're available, the brand of the one I had was US Audio , the US certainly didn't mean Unites States, I think it meant Useless-Schitt

It was TIC Doug and you took the bait LOL

I suppose the flash drives being a bit bigger wont be lost as easily as the SD cards. I'll have to research a bit more and see what I come up with.

It also bounced the bait, mate I knew where they come from and I knew your sense of humour....Been there, done that before you bugger.
Yeh the Flash drives are more sturdy, but the Card sits in out of the way too , pro's and cons for each , as long as it's not a chinese card .

I put in a single DIN radio/CD player in the top slot and bought a small storage bin, for sunnies etc from Autobarn for about $20 to go in the bottom slot. It fitted straight in and the screw holes lined up. Looks like a bought one!
