Both the wife and I have to be in
Darwin Mid April next year. So I figure while doing some work in my garage, the brain ticks over COOOOOOOOLLLLL. I figure as the wife does not go
camping anymore (has not in years) the good lady can fly I will drive and take a couple of weeks
camping there and two or three on the way back etc etc.
I start the planning process in the garage, sometime later I emerge and during conversation mention .... look I'll drive up and you can fly that way we can have the vehicle to move around and do some real sightseeing. Wife agrees as she can spent a bit more time wither her daughters and to me driving (I'm excited) but show no emotion, you know how they hate us men being happy (tic).
Next couple of days nothing else was said I have my first draft plan set YIPEEEEEEEE only known to myself at this stage.
Wife tells me yesterday she will drive up with me ....... now I show the right emotions (but still inside totally confused) that she is coming
camping again. Excited all the same and if I do this right she will start coming again which I would like.
Today she says which hotels will we be staying in? hmmmm hotels? I was
camping ........ I'm NOT
camping. So at this moment I am devastated and say nothing........... figure this the best option at this atage.
I'm hoping we can do a bit of both ....... but I already know this will be a lost course.
How do you get the wife
camping when she does not want to ............I dare say as the wifes is clever she will cotton on if I breakdown 14 nights in a row LOL. So might forget that idea.
Staying in hotels there and back and fuel will be cheaper for both fly and hire a car at this stage, mind you the good lady maybe taking the pis* out of me she has a weird sense of hunour. Will let it slide for a couple of weeks and try again.
Ho Hum my bitch over for now guess I better look for some hotel prices.
Axle you want to lend me your dog house I will be in one before long or back of my ute LOL

Hi Brian
What type of setup for
camping do you use?
Soooooooooooo...............
Have you asked her why she doesn't like
camping?
Have you asked her what could be done to make it nicer/better for her to enjoy
camping?
One suggestion maybe is drive there direct and stay in motels along the way.
Then you can you drive home and enjoy what you want to do on the way back while your wife flies home?
Maybe suggesting that you can both be satisfied?
Then again she may like the trip up that much she may want to actually
camp with you on the way back anyway?
Good luck!
:)

I have a pretty good set up, quite comfortable to be honest.
No 1 She does not like
camping on air beds anymore or for that matter any tent. Prefers now 4 - 5 star accommodation nice bed,
toilet, shower and AIRCON on tap so to speak.
No2 LOL yep ....... answer HOTELS .... go figure lol.
The good lady has been
camping for many years but the last 10+ odd not interested in any way shape or form.
So at the moment I go my way and then we do her thing of the hotel.
I am hoping I can do a bit of both I do feel if the good lady does a little bit of
camping she will enjoy.
I was only planning 300 klm a day so there would be plenty of stops to make it a easy and relaxed run.
I was considering your idea drive there quickly and then I can do my thing but will wait and see, let things settle a bit .......
I just figured her flying spending time with her daughters and me rocking up a few day later would be fine ... I just assumed I guess and
well we know where I am now LOL.
I am not beat ...... I have several months to work something out LOL,

Hi Brian
Well in that case and no offence intended (can't persuade her) then put some smelly socks/prawns in the 4BY.
She'll smell that and won't want to get in the 4BY.
Such a pity she don't like
camping now, no better place to be.
Why settle for 4-5 star when you can enjoy a millions of billions stars.
Good Luck!

Unfortunatly i have come to the conclusion that some women just dont get it
- Why stay out in the wilderness when you can stay in a hotel
- Why have a campfire when you can go to the restaurant
- Why leave the city? - there are no shops in the bush!
I know there are some lucky ones amongst us that are blessed
---------------------------------------------- A am not one of those either:c

Muddies Doe,
I still gotta live in the 4b as
well. I agree its a pity but I have not given up at least I have several months to work at it.
I still have this feeling she is playing games ..... will put it to the test later this year when i work on a mixed plan bit of
camping and bit of hotels.
I will just have to pick some TOP spots to stay so the good lady can see why I keep
camping of course must have amenities.

I love
camping. Always have and always
well. We have upgraded the tent and holden kingswood to a windsor rapid and 2008 pathfinder, all hubby's idea, but I did not say no. But the tent is still sitting in the shed, just in case we go somewhere that we need a tent instead and have to leave the rapid behind, as is half the
camp kitchen that we collected.
My kids all love
camping, my 14 year old son is off to
army camp on Saturday, with just a tarp ( hoochie) and what ever he can carry in his pack for seven days. And he sleeps just in his sleeping bag, without blowup beds or even a wuss map, as do his team of girl cadets.
Can't you found something a little more comfortable to sleep on than a blow up mattress? I think a trip to
camping store....might just help.

Hi KevnDeb
Yes, I forgot to mention in the other post to Brian that a self inflating matress might be a way to go?
Gave the box blow up bed away years ago.
Now have a thermarest type one. It might be only 2/3 inches thick but it's as comfy as the bed at home.
For the camper we have put 2 camping/exercise mats under it for extra comfort. Muddy's comfort zones (love handles) on both hips are not as thick as
mine......lol

Might go check one of the thermorests out. I don't really think its the bed but added to the flies, heat, dust kinda puts her off as
well.
A shower and
toilet is also an issue other than that the good lady would enjoy the bush LOL.
I can sort the shower and
toilet out easy and will look at the bed thingie, but the reat
well not a lot I can do about that.

What about she flies up, spends time with her daughters, while you leave earlier and do your own thing. And the conditions are that you both travel together on the way back staying at motels etc for your second honeymoon :-)))

If your missus is anything like
mine this is just a cunning plan so you will give up on the idea and just sit next to her on the plane.
Firstly, you cannot possibly think she will let you have fun on your own!
Secondly she will be thinking if this plane goes down he's gonna be on it too!
Thirdly, the number 1 rule of marraige is to let her think she is getting her way.
Of coarse the second rule of marraige is to let her get her own way and agree with her that it was a brilliant idea!
HAHAHAHAHAHA

Go buy a good caravan, it will work out cheaper in the long run (compared to motels) and she gets her comfort, you get your isolated
camp spots. Everyone's a winner. Is now the only way Judy will go anywhere
camping with me.
Cheers, Trevor.

I have considered it but would also have to change vehicle as willum post says one thing leads to another lol.
Maybe I should just go buy a caravan and vehicle and see if that takes her mind of
camping LOL. Mind you I would make sure it suits my needs to a tee as I most likely be the only staying in it LOL.
